14th September 2026, Monday evenings, 6.00pm-8.00pm.
10 week course.
Completion of Spanish Elementary course or demonstration of suitable level of Spanish.
Topics and Vocabulary
- Family and relationships (adult perspectives)
- Free time and hobbies
- Culture, food, and eating out
- Everyday technology and media
- Daily routines and habits
Grammar in Focus
- Present tense (including common irregular and reflexive verbs)
- Past tense: pretérito perfecto
- Comparatives and superlatives
- Opinion expressions (pienso que, me parece que, prefiero)
- Basic connectors (porque, pero, aunque
There are no formal assessments required as part of this course, students will be awarded with a York College certificate upon completion.

The course will be delivered in College and will be taught with a focus on listening, understanding and speaking, with some reading and writing.
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.
Students who successfully complete this course may progress to Spanish – Lower Intermediate 2 if there is sufficient demand.
You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge in Spanish to help you progress and develop in a number of job opportunities to suit your personal needs and interests.
