Cycles and Motor Bikes

We have parking for motor bikes and cycles. Spaces for mopeds and motorcycles are clearly marked on both levels of the car park. There are cycle racks at the front of the College building and covered cycle storage in the rear car park. There are plenty of new 'safe cycle' lanes on main routes to the College. If you're bringing a moped or motorcycle on to site you must apply for a permit. See the link below for further information.

Parking

The College has limited parking space and courteous, safe driving is expected at all times. This car park can get full early in the morning. Please do not park in local residential avenues such as Chessingham Gardens.

York College is a ‘permit only’ parking site.

Visitors to the college must sign in at reception and obtain a hanger permit. For staff and students there are 2 types of permits available:

Annual Permit – the cost is £72 for a car and this allows you to park without further payment for one academic year.

A cost of £50 will be charged for a motorbike/moped and this also allows you to park without further payment for one academic year.

Annual Occasional Use Permit - if you only use your vehicle occasionally you can obtain an Annual Occasional Use Permit. This costs £5 but this allows you to park in the Pay & Display (P&D) car park for a daily charge of £1. Please ensure that the P&D ticket is displayed daily with the occasional use permit (motorcycle/moped users may not apply for an Occasional Use Permit.

Please familiarise yourself with the car park rules as there are financial penalties if you breach them.

Staff and students must obtain a permit from the estates office in GF072. Students are not eligible for a car parking pass until they have held a full licence for at least twelve months, however there is an appeal procedure which is detailed in the link below.

Dropping off and Picking Up Students

We appreciate that some students need to be dropped off and picked up from College by parents/carers. Increased traffic on site at the end of the college day creates a bottleneck on the access and entry road to the campus which is delaying some staff and students from leaving campus to undertake their caring responsibilities. Please may we ask that due consideration is taken during this busy time of the day, and where picking up on campus is not necessary alternative pick up points are identified.

Disabled Car Parking

There are a number of disabled car parking spaces adjacent to the main entrance. A College permit and a valid pay and display ticket (with an occasional use permit) must be displayed.

Disabled parking permits will only be given if the driver brings along proof that they are a Blue Badge holder. They can also apply for an Annual Disability permit for £72.
