With specialist teams that each offer impartial information, advice and guidance on a full range of services including course information, how to enrol, finance and funding, travel and transport and career advice through e-guidance.
Look after you. Your health and wellbeing is our number one priority. We offer termly health and wellbeing events. If you are experiencing any problems, feeling under pressure or finding it hard to cope, we have a free and confidential counselling service that you can access. We also have a team of Mental Health First Aiders on-hand throughout the working day.
If you have a disability, specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia) or a long-term physical or mental health condition, and are applying for a higher education programme, you can apply for a Disabled Students’ Allowance to help with the extra costs you may have. We will also make sure that you have the reasonable adjustments and support in place if you need it to engage fully with your studies.
York College welcomes those of all faiths and none; having a designated room 'Oasis' set aside for personal reflection and prayer.
Money matters
Before, during and after your course the Funding Team is here for you. They will investigate funding options available to help with anything from tuition fee loans and childcare grants to travel costs.
Bursary and Hardship Fund
We’re committed to providing a Bursary Scheme which all eligible higher education students starting their course in September 2023 can apply to. If you are successful, you will receive a payment of £600 paid in up to two instalments. You could use your bursary to help pay for travel costs or buy essential equipment for your course.
If you find yourself facing financial difficulty during your studies, you may be eligible to apply to the College for additional support via the Hardship Fund.

When most students think of student accommodation, they think of halls of residence or living in a shared student house. At York College University Centre we do things a little differently. Prior to starting your higher education course with us, you ideally should have your living arrangements in place.

Career advice and guidance
With courses designed with your future employability in mind and with qualified careers advisors readily available, we are here to help you reach your future career goals. From quick questions that we can respond to via email to one-to-one advice to discuss your longer-term career goals, we are here to support you in any way we can. Prior to applying to a course we can provide you with e-guidance, and once studying you will have access to careers consultant appointments, CV help, mock interviews and assessments, online employability resources and advice and guidance for applying for further study.
