Apprenticeships are not just for school leavers, anyone who is looking to further their career at any age can enhance their qualifications and can study an apprenticeship to retrain or upskill.
York College offers a full suite of apprenticeships in different industry sectors, including, Construction, Engineering, Business, Hospitality, Hairdressing, Digital and IT and Accountancy. These range from Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) through to Level 5 (Foundation Degree equivalent).
"I chose this apprenticeship as I’d previously studied the Electrical Installations Diploma Level 2 full-time and really enjoyed it. I really like that studying an apprenticeship means I’m out in the workplace learning new skills four days a week and then I have one day a week at College.
My overall experience at York College has been great. One of the things I’ve enjoyed most has been representing the College in competitions. I’m planning on becoming a fully qualified electrician and am hoping to start my own business in the future."
