At York College & University Centre, our Motor Vehicle courses are designed to prepare you for employment, apprenticeships and further study. Whether you are starting your journey in the automotive sector or looking to develop existing skills, you will learn in professional workshop environments using industry-standard equipment and technology.

We offer full-time vocational courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3, Apprenticeships at Levels 2 and 3, and specialist opportunities for adult learners to specialise in vehicle repair.

In August 2026, statistics released by Find A Training Provider, using data sourced from the Department for Education, Skills England and Ofsted, ranked York College as the UK's number-one ranked training provider for Autocare Technician apprenticeships.

As part of your automotive course, you will develop practical skills in our state-of-the-art Motor Vehicle workshops, equipped with the latest diagnostic tools and technology used throughout the industry.

Our facilities include state-of-the-art equipment for a comprehensive learning experience, including:

• Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) camera and radar calibration equipment
• An Electric Vehicle Bay supporting training in emerging vehicle technologies
• 12 vehicle ramps
• An MOT Bay
• A four-wheel alignment bay
• Specialist demonstration rigs covering petrol and diesel engines, braking and ABS systems, transmission systems and air conditioning components

These facilities allow you to gain hands-on experience in vehicle diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repair, helping you develop the skills employers are looking for.
