IOT Localised Yorkshire and Humber GIF

Located across England, IoTs are a national network of partnerships between local colleges, universities and leading industry employers. By studying at the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology, you can gain accredited qualifications in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths), including Higher National Certificates and Diplomas, Higher Apprenticeships, Foundation Degrees and more.

Recognised by regional and national employers and backed by a £290 million government investment, IoTs deliver the very best in technical education. You won’t just get a strong foundation in theory. You’ll also apply that theory using the latest technology in modern facilities. You’ll learn based on real-world challenges, in small groups of like-minded students who share your passions. You'll get high-quality, high-level technical training across sectors, such as cybersecurity, engineering, construction and more.

One of the unique advantages of studying at an IoT is you get to work closely with local employers. Many IoTs will arrange placements with employers and give you masterclasses with industry experts. With apprenticeships you can get hands on experience while getting paid.

Not sure about the career you want? Don't worry, the IoT experience offers you career support throughout your journey so you can work out what you’re most interested in, find your passion, and start to develop specialist, in-demand skills. Whether you're a school leaver, or wanting to upskill or reskill and forge a new career path, an IoT qualification could be the perfect step on an exciting career journey.

Working collaboratively through partnership

The Institute is based on a collaborative partnership between a number of colleges, universities and employers in the region. Partners are working together to deliver, and develop, higher-level curriculum in digital, engineering and manufacturing, construction and agri-tech subjects. Digital and engineering businesses ViSR, CATCH, Skipton Building Society, GB Recruitment and ENGIE Fabricom recognised the need for investment in education to address their wider skills shortages and have signed up as employer partners to be involved in designing the appropriate curriculum, supported by research from local universities – University of York and University of Hull. These employers and universities are part of the governance of the Institute of Technology to ensure continued collaboration and long-term benefits for the region.

“I am currently studying the FdSc Digital Technology (Cybersecurity) as I believe it will allow me to access a great career path in the future. I enjoy this IoT course as it enables me to access a much deeper understanding of how technology works in the world around us. My tutors are very supportive and are always there to help if I need any support overcoming obstacles while completing assignments.”
