Italian - Beginners 2
This course is for students who have completed Beginner I or can already manage basic introductions and common verbs.
Students will acquire basic communication skills in Italian, for use in a variety of familiar useful situations such as when you’re on holiday or travelling for work.
Entry requirements
This course is for learners who have already completed at least 20 hours of learning and have a basic understanding of the grammar such as nouns, adjectives, and verb formation.
Course units
- Talking about your family and relationships
- Describing yourself and others (appearance and personality)
- Describing cities, towns, and villages
- Asking for and understanding directions
- Describing locations using cardinal points (e.g., north, south)
- Interacting in shops and hotels: asking about hours, booking a room, etc.
Grammar focus:
- Regular and irregular present tense verbs
- Use of adjectives and their agreement with nouns
- Quantifiers (e.g., molto, un po’)
- Prepositions of place (e.g., in, vicino a, lontano da)
- Introduction to the imperative (commands)
This course will help you handle a wider range of everyday interactions and feel more at ease navigating Italian-speaking environments.
Assessments
There are no formal assessments required, students will be awarded with a York College certificate upon completion.

Course progression
Students who successfully complete this course may progress to Beginners 3, if there is sufficient demand.

Study methods
This is a classroom-based course and will be taught with a focus on listening, understanding and speaking with an introduction to reading and writing.

Additional costs
All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.
