Spanish Elementary 2
Spanish Elementary 2 is designed for students who have completed Elementary 1 or foundation GCSE or can comfortably talk about future plans, recent experiences, and daily responsibilities, able to describe their home, navigate travel conversations, and express opinions in more natural, flowing Spanish.
Whether you're preparing for travel, work, or simply want to engage more meaningfully in Spanish, this course offers the structure and support to help you communicate with greater confidence and fluency.
Entry requirements
Spanish Elementary 2 is designed for students who have completed Elementary 1 or foundation GCSE or can comfortably talk about future plans, recent experiences, and daily responsibilities, able to describe their home, navigate travel conversations, and express opinions in more natural, flowing Spanish.
Course units
On this courses you will cover:
- Making and receiving simple phone calls
- Arranging plans or meeting friends to go out
- Talking about what’s happening right now and give excuses
- Sharing recent experiences
- Going shopping for clothes and talking about preferences
- Comparing people, places, and things

- Present tense
- Present continuous
- Present perfect
- Direct object pronouns
- Comparatives and superlatives
- Useful connectors
Assessments
There are no formal assessments, students will be awarded with a York College certificate upon completion.

Course progression
Students who complete Spanish Elementary 2 can progress onto Spanish Elementary 3 in April 2026.

12th January - 23rd March, Mondays 6.00pm-8.00pm.
Study methods
The course will be delivered in College and will be taught with a focus on listening, understanding and speaking, with some reading and writing.
Facilities
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Additional costs
All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.
