All students who are returning or starting in September 2026 must purchase a new 2026/27 ticket to use the college bus. Tickets can be bought using the links under ‘Buy your college bus ticket’ further down this page. Please note that you must have a valid ticket to travel on college transport; without one, you will not be permitted to board.
Tickets for 2026/27 will go on sale from July 2026.

Terms and conditions of travel
You must read and agree to the terms and conditions in order to travel on any of the College Coaches.
The student code of conduct applies and inappropriate behaviour will be dealt with under College disciplinary procedures; any students with concerns are encouraged to report details to their tutor or contact Student Services (please see contact info under Reporting a problem below).

Timetable & Departure Time Information
Timetables are subject to change depending on route capacity in September. Please check the timetable just before travel in case of any changes.
York College provides information on journey times in good faith, however, in the event of a breakdown, traffic congestion or any other incidents beyond the reasonable control of the College or coach companies operating the routes, departure times may be affected, and journeys may take longer than predicted; in these circumstances the College will not be liable for any delays.
Please be at your stop 5 to 10 mins before the college bus departure time to avoid missing your bus. Please make sure you are at the bus stop and the bus driver can see you. Put your hand out for the bus to stop when you see the bus approaching.

If your household income is below £35,000 (before deductions) and you live more than 2.5 miles away from college, you may be eligible for a bursary and help with transport costs. If you think you may be eligible, please fill in the application form which can be found on the Funding page www.yorkcollege.ac.uk/bursary.

Summary of our service
All our buses are PSVAR compliant (Public Service Vehicle Accessibility Regulations 2000) which means they all have wheelchair access.
Routes are reviewed on a yearly basis and so if your area isn't currently serviced, please get in touch so we can assess your individual needs.
The College Bus Service operates Monday to Friday and during term times only.
There are two journeys per day on each route, one into College on a morning and one on an evening leaving the College (departure times listed above).
All buses drop off and pick up from the bus lanes inside the College grounds and the return journeys follow the same routes as the inward journey.

We offer 15 privately run College bus routes for York College students only from areas not properly covered by public transport.
There is one journey into college on a morning in time for lessons and one home when lessons have finished.

As there have been some changes to timetable information, please make sure you know your departure times well before travel and please be at your stops at least 5 to 10 minutes before the bus is due to avoid missing it.

Services which go via York Station/Rougier Street and stop at or near York College
- 80 East Yorkshire - Raskelf via Shipton / Shipton Road / Clifton Green / Exhibition Square / Station and stops at Tesco Askham Bar
- 3 First York Park & Ride - runs every few minutes (Park and Ride, stops at the Park and Ride / Tesco site opposite York College)
- 12 East Yorkshire - (Monks Cross via Acomb Bellhouse Way & Woodthorpe) stops at Tesco Askham Bar
- 13 Connexions Buses - (from Haxby to Copmanthorpe) Stops outside York college
- Coastliner services (Leeds to the East Coast) via York Station and stops outside York College.
- My21 Pullman Operates between York City Centre and Colton, passing York College and serving Bishopthorpe, Acaster Malbis, Appleton Roebuck, and Bolton Percy.
Public Services from Thirsk, Easingwold, Leeds and other areas around York.
Transdev 30/ 30SE (Student Express) brings students from Thirsk and Easingwold and surrounding villages. The bus stop for service 30SE is Moor Lane bus stop which is opposite the Tesco Petrol Station which is over the road from the college. Coastliner 840/843 goes from Leeds to the East Coast and stops at the bus stop just outside college. It also travels via York centre and Heworth (Please follow the attached link to Coastliner’s website for full timetables for this route)
East Yorkshire bus service also operates services including the 80 which comes to York College from Raskelf/ Linton on Ouse / Shipton Rd / Clifton Green and the 12 which stops at York college from Monks Cross / Huntington / Acomb / Woodthorpe (please follow the attached link to East Yorkshire’s website for full timetables for these routes).
Pullman M1 there is one route into college on a morning and one home in the evening picking up at Clifton Moor, Green Lane, Rawcliffe, Shipton Road, Skelton, Poppleton and Acomb (please follow the attached link to Pullman’s website for full timetable for this route).
Student savers for local services
There are lots of different Student Savers available depending on where you live and how you will travel to College – make sure you investigate all of your options to ensure that you are getting the best deal and saving the most money!
Smart card – You can buy a Smart card for a small cost and load it up at a smart card machine and then scan it on any York bus including First and Coastliner/Transdev.
All York ticket (day, week or month) – You can buy a day, week or month All York ticket to travel on any local bus service within the York Boundary at a low price. All York Young Person's tickets are available to anyone aged 5 to 18.
First bus under 19 travel in York. Can use an All-York ticket on this route.
Student and Child Direct Debit Tickets | Arriva Bus UK - Student Saver ticket range offers great money-saving deals for students.
East Yorkshire Motor Service – Including 80 from Raskelf, Easingwold, Crayke, Shipton Rd and more. 20% off for students age 16-18 if you show your student I.D card.
Connexions Buses - Operating a network of bus routes centred on Harrogate and York including the 13 from Haxby to Copmanthorpe. Travel on a child’s fare with a YOzone, or proof of age under 19. Can use an All-York ticket on this route.
Plusbus - Aged 16-25 years or a student? You get one-third off our normal day ticket prices, with a 16-25 Railcard.
Pullman M1 serves Oakdale Rd, Green Lane, Eastholme Drive, Skelton, Poppleton, Manor academy and stops near to college . Please click here for the timetable.
Transdev/Coastliner - Download the Transdev Go App for discounts and track your bus, buy mobile tickets, check for seats. Travel to/from Leeds, Tadcaster, York, Malton, Pickering, Whitby and Scarborough calling at York College. Transdev also now run the 30SE from Thirsk/Easingwold to college and the 40 from Crayke, Easkingwold, Huby and more instead of Reliance.
West Yorkshire Metro - A 16-18 PhotoCard is for West Yorkshire residents age 16 to 18. It is valid from your 16th birthday until the day before your 19th birthday. It gives you half-fare travel anywhere in West Yorkshire at any time of day, including evenings and weekends (except late night services and special event services). With a 16-18 PhotoCard you can travel on all Transdev Keighley & District, Harrogate & District and Coastliner services into and within North Yorkshire. On these services you will receive a third off the fare for your journey in North Yorkshire.
YOzone - Free YOzone pass gives reduced price travel within York, full-time 16-18s only.
16-25 Railcard - 1/3 off most fares, the Railcard costs just £30, minimum fares apply to travel before 10am.
16-17 Saver Railcard - 50% off rail travel for 16 and 17 year olds.
