Art School: Clay Modelling
This course is suitable for all abilities and anyone with a genuine desire to learn the essential skills and techniques required to provide an introduction to clay modelling and plaster casting.
This is a course for beginners and people with some experience. You will learn how to model clay, sculpt a bust (creating ears, mouth, nose etc.) and then plaster cast using a single mould cast. You will build an armature, learn clay modelling techniques, learn how to mix casting plaster and the casting process. This is an exciting course and ideal for people wanting to experiment and try out new art techniques in a supportive environment with an experienced tutor who has worked as an artist for thirty years. This course will run over 4 days: 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th July.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although enthusiasm and commitment are essential.

Assessments
There are no formal assessments, but you will be given the opportunity to test out your skills and build on them each session.

Course progression
Completion of this course could lead you to progress onto our Access to HE Art and Design course or one of our York School of Art degrees.
