Art School: Sculpture for Beginners
This course is suitable for all abilities and anyone with a genuine desire to learn the essential skills and techniques required to provide an introduction to sculpture.

11th January 2027, Monday evenings, 6.00pm-8.30pm.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although enthusiasm and commitment are essential.
Course units
This practical course introduces students to the creative process of designing and making abstract sculptures using clay, followed by the techniques required to cast their work into a permanent form.
Students will explore how to use clay as a design and problem-solving material, learning how form, texture, balance, and scale can be developed through hands-on experimentation. The course then introduces plaster casting techniques, enabling students to transform a temporary clay sculpture into a durable plaster form.
Assessments
There are no formal assessments, but you will be given the opportunity to test out your skills and build on them each session.

Students will learn in a friendly and professional art workshop environment with all appropriate health and safety provision.
