This course is aimed at learners who wish to develop skills and progress to a teaching role within the workplace, you do not have to be currently in a teaching role to apply.
The course is also suitable for workplace assessors who wish to develop their teaching/training skills.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification which will prepare you with the skills and knowledge required to progress to a teaching role within the education sector. You will develop a set of core skills that combine the theory behind teaching and learning approaches in education with practical teaching skills.
1st October 2026, Thursday evenings, 5.30pm-8.30pm.
17th February 2027, Thursday evenings, 5.30pm-8.30pm.
Learners must be aged 19 or above and hold a GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
This course includes the following mandatory modules:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
A portfolio of evidence is required as well as an assessed micro teach.

Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.
The course is classroom-based, and learners must complete a 20-minute micro teach to the group under assessment conditions.
Successful completion of the Level 3 course allows for progression on to the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to embark on a successful career in the education and training sector, or allow you to progress further in your current employment, putting your new skills to use in a real-world environment.
