NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Specialist in Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators in Early Years Settings (Award)
This qualification is designed to meet the needs of adult learners who are interested in developing additional specialist competence in an educational occupation.
The qualification will enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to develop additional specialist competence within education and early years.
Dates & course durations
4th November 2026, Wednesdays, 9.30am-12.30pm.
7th April 2027, Wednesdays, 9.30am-12.30pm.
Enrolment for autumn courses will open in June.
Entry requirements
Learners must be aged 19 or above to undertake this qualification and have experience of working with babies and young children before registering.
Course units
Units include:
- Unit 01 Roles and responsibilities of the special educational needs co-ordinator in the early years
- Unit 02 Strategies and techniques for supporting children and families
Assessments
Assessment is ongoing through the completion of written evidence, along with demonstrating competency.

Study methods
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include direct observation, written assignments and professional discussion.
