Construction Skills City & Guilds Extended Certificate Entry Level 3
This course is suitable if you want to progress into a career within the construction industry as a General Operative, or to progress on to the various craft courses delivered by the College. It will prepare you for employment and look at core work skills required.

What will I study?
The qualification covers a range of hand-skills, practical tasks and theory lessons in the following trade areas:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Painting and Decorating
To be successful on this course, you need to have the ability to work well in a team, outstanding commitment and enthusiasm, and outstanding attendance and punctuality.
Method of delivery
This programme will be delivered in our modern workshops and classrooms, focusing on developing your practical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours ready for assessment. All assessments will be carried out in accordance with awarding body guidelines. To prepare you prior to your assessments, we will build up your skills, knowledge and behaviours to give you the best chance of achieving your potential. We will sequence the curriculum deliver to meet industry needs and work with you through each step to build your confidence.
How will I be assessed?
Practical and theory work will be assessed in line with awarding body requirements. This will be a mixture of externally set and internally assessed examinations and practical synoptic assessments.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
On successful completion of this course, you can progress on to a Level 1 Diploma in one of the following trade areas:

- Painting and Decorating
