Electrical Installations Technical Diploma Level 3

Entry requirements
You can only progress if you have passed/achieved the Electrical Installations Diploma Level 2 .
What will I study?
You will study a variety of subjects designed to give you a thorough understanding of electrical systems and the skills needed to progress on to an apprenticeship.

Method of delivery
This programme will be delivered in our modern workshops and classrooms, focusing on developing your practical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours ready for assessment. All assessments will be carried out in accordance with awarding body guidelines. To prepare you prior to your assessments, we will build up your skills, knowledge and behaviours to give you the best chance of achieving your potential. We will sequence the curriculum delivery to meet industry needs and work with you through each step to build your confidence.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a combination of practical and theoretical methods to ensure you have a well-rounded understanding and the necessary skills to work as an electrician. The main assessment components are:
- Practical Demonstrations/Assignments: You will be required to complete practical tasks that demonstrate your ability to install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems. These assignments are designed to assess your hands-on skills in real-world scenarios.
- Practical Examinations: These are structured practical exams where you will perform specific tasks under controlled conditions. This helps to progress into an apprenticeship, applying theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
- Task-Based Controlled Assessments: These assessments involve completing specific tasks within a set timeframe and under supervision. They are designed to test your ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Written Examinations: You will take written exams that test your understanding of electrical principles, regulations, and theoretical knowledge. These exams typically include multiple-choice questions, short answers, and extended response questions.
- Design Assignments: You may be required to complete assignments that involve designing electrical systems, selecting appropriate components, and creating wiring diagrams.
- Multiple-Choice Tests: These tests assess your knowledge of key concepts and principles through a series of multiple-choice questions.

Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
On completion of this Technical Diploma, you can progress into employment, or transfer to an apprenticeship and then go on to higher-level courses in construction.
Please note this qualification does not make individuals fully qualified electricians or electrical installation engineers. To become fully qualified you must achieve the Level 3 Apprenticeship.
