Freshers Week 1

Win prizes, pet animals, pick up freebies and bowl a strike at Freshers' Week 2023

It’s seven days until the start of York College & University Centre’s 2023 Freshers’ Week and we’d like to share details of what our new students can expect across four fun-packed days.

The week starts on Tuesday, September 26 when Hollywood Bowl York will be providing an inflatable ten-pin bowling alley on campus in the Atrium.

On Wednesday, September 27, Purple Pig Farm Animals will then be bringing a miniature cow, goat kids, pigs, chickens, ducks and rabbits on site and, on Thursday, September 28, Just Climb will be erecting a climbing wall outside the main College entrance.

The activities will take place between 10am and 2pm on each day with a variety of stalls also set up in the Atrium, offering free merchandise; discount vouchers for local gyms and food outlets; part-time work, placement and volunteering opportunities and details on lifeguard training courses.

From 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, September 28, meanwhile, there will be a Freshers’ Evening event, with stalls specifically targeted at our Higher Education degree students where hot drinks and cakes will also be available.

Finally, on Friday, September 29, we will be staging a Sport & Fitness Day from 11am to 1pm when students can learn more about the different College sports teams that they can join and a number of activities will be taking place.

A great selection of prizes will also be up for grabs during the week, including Afternoon Tea for Two at The Principal York and Hollywood Bowl and Puttstars Mini Golf vouchers.

We can’t wait to see you all there!
