You will be required to complete tests and assignments as part of your study. You may be required to partake in online learning activities throughout the course, which are often led by employers and industry specialists.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in one of the College Beauty Salons. Assessments will involve performing treatments on other members of the class as well as on external paying clients. You will also be required to complete written assignments and online tests.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
Ideally students would progress on to Level 3 Beauty Therapy.
Students leaving College with a Level 2 qualification could seek employment in a beauty salon, make-up studio or nail bar. There are also opportunities to complete consultancy work, become a Demonstrator for a product manufacturer, or a Therapist on a cruise liner. Self-employment and working in retail are also possibilities.
“I chose this course because performing different beauty treatments is something that I really enjoy doing. York College is local and has been very welcoming. It’s also been really easy to make new friends. The facilities and beauty therapy rooms are very professional and easy to work in.
In the future I would like to work as a beauty therapist on a cruise ship or own my own salon.”
