York College University Centre: Why study a degree with us?

We'll be exploring the top reasons why studying your degree or higher-level course at our University Centre might just be the perfect fit for you, an institution that offers flexible and personalised learning, supported to suit your career aspirations.

Unlike larger institutions, here at York College University Centre you'll receive a personalised approach to your learning and our students have great relationships with our tutors.

Flexible Study Options

We ensure that our students have a good study/life balance. We do this by ensuring that our courses have a flexible approach to delivery. This gives students the opportunity to maximise spare time for part-time work or other commitments alongside achieving their qualification.

Lots of our courses have full and part-time options, and we condense timetables to maximise time for other commitments and to reduce travel costs and time spent commuting.

"My overall experience was brilliant and my course tutors made the time incredible. We were offered one-on-one support which is harder to come by in bigger universities. York College University Centre is a close knit group. My workplace is based close to the College so this meant I didn't have to spend lots of time commuting, so I could maximise my spare time effectively."

Our Community

York College University Centre is inclusive of everyone and welcomes students from a range of diverse backgrounds, and at different stages in their lives and careers.

We welcome continuers (providing a natural transition for our Level 3 students at College, in a familiar institution), mature students (those who want to retrain, progress, upskill or follow their passion) and those who may live further afield and want to be able to study in an environment with a condensed timetable and great travel options.

Whatever your individual circumstances, we aim to provide a welcome and engaging community for you to enjoy and help develop your educational ambitions and future career goals.

"I studied Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy at York College so it was a natural progression for me to study the Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management & Advanced Beauty Therapy Aesthetics at the University Centre. It's a fantastic place to learn and the facilities are brilliant. I absolutely loved it."

"Studying my PGCE at College allowed me to work alongside studying, and I had the opportunity to attend a teaching conference in Huddersfield, which was really useful as it meant I got to meet others from around the country who were doing a PGCE, meaning we could share tips, trick and best practice."

Dale, PGCE.

"I've always enjoyed computing and wanted to improve my skills and expand my cybersecurity knowledge, so York College University Centre was the perfect choice. Studying close to home at my local university centre allowed me to save money and was much more convenient. The facilities were amazing, as good as larger universities, and I had great relationships with my tutors."
