Work in Progress - Exhibition
An Exhibition by students from York College Art & Design Foundation and Extended Diploma Courses in collaboration with Fabrication.
Students of York College Art & Design Foundation and Extended Diploma courses are currently exhibiting at independent shop and creative workspace, Fabrication, in York.
Work in Progress represents a key concept of Contemporary Art and Design education.
Students preparing for creative degrees in anything from Fashion and Product Design to Animation and Fine Art are encouraged to explore and examine the process of creation itself, resisting the natural drive to finish projects.
In this way they can produce multiples, a palette of visual ideas and concepts from which to select. The study of historical and industry contexts is integral to this process, building the students’ knowledge of contemporary practice.
The artifacts for viewing and for sale allow the students to assess their endeavours within the framework of the commercial space and as such, are unfinished - much like the students themselves.
Art & Design Foundation student Edd said: "Its exciting to make a product that someone may buy and cherish. Its like letting a bird fly free from its cage"
Staff and students would like to thank Dawn and the team at Fabrication for inviting us to present our ideas.
The exhibition will be in place until Tuesday 21st February.
Fabrication York, 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL.
