290623046 Reach Awards

Sponsoring a REACH award described as a great way to support local students and enjoy an ‘excellent night out’

The chance to support local students and enjoy an “excellent night” out at the same time were key factors in engineering firm ISF’s decision to renew their sponsorship of a York College & University Centre REACH award.

York-based ISF, who also support education at the College through apprenticeship programmes and historically with work placements, sponsored the 2023 Outstanding Achievement Award which saw apprentice David Fitzgerald named the winner.

It is an association the company are “really proud” to maintain ahead of this year’s awards, which “Reward Excellence And Celebrate Hard Work” and will be held at York Racecourse on 27th June.

On the motivation for supporting the award ceremony again, Laura Palmer-Hukins, Quality Manager at ISF, said:

“ISF have always placed great importance on supporting the local community in York through various different sponsorships, but education is definitely something we are passionate about.

“We attended an award ceremony in 2023. It was a great night, from the pre-dinner entertainment to the inspiring guest speakers, but most importantly hearing the different reasons that the winners were chosen. We felt really proud to be involved.

“The awards are a great opportunity to support local students, with the added bonus of an excellent night out!

“After sponsoring an award last year and being able to see first-hand what a great sense of pride these awards give to the winners, we were waiting for the invitation to sponsor again this year to come through!”

As the end of the academic year draws closer, the College are now gearing up for this year’s annual student award ceremonies and are inviting businesses to get involved through award sponsorship.

These events, which are designed to celebrate academic excellence, serve as a platform to recognise the brightest young minds in our College community.

Why consider sponsorship?

By sponsoring a student award, your business is investing directly into the future workforce of our society. Your contribution goes towards recognising and encouraging exceptional students who are destined to make a positive impact in their chosen fields.

As a sponsor, your business will enjoy significant exposure throughout the event. Your logo will be displayed in all promotional materials, including event programmes and social media content.

By sponsoring a student award, businesses can identify and acknowledge exceptional young talent. This can be an opportunity to establish connections with high-achieving students who may become future employees or valuable contacts in the industry.

Investing in education through student awards demonstrates corporate social responsibility. It showcases your company's commitment to supporting academic achievement and fostering the growth of future leaders.

Overall, sponsoring a student award is a meaningful way for businesses to make a positive impact on education.

Here's what some of our past sponsors, who have also renewed their support for this year, had to say about their experience:

Pat Coye, Client Relations Director at Rollits LLP

“York College is well known in the area as a leading provider of education and supports students across a wide range of qualifications and from many different backgrounds.

“The events are very prestigious and a chance for students, families, and staff to get together and celebrate hard work and academic success. This can be very motivating for students and adult learners.

“The Awards are an excellent way for the College to foster a positive and supportive learning environment by celebrating student success.

“Sponsorship provides opportunities to connect with potential future employees. Sponsoring a specific award category aligned with their sector can help build a talent pipeline for future job opportunities.”

Jill Jenkins, Early Careers Manager at Severfield plc

“We have sponsored awards on two previous occasions and have found the events to be very positive and uplifting with a great opportunity to network.

“I believe hosting the event and awarding students is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate success and achievement.

“It is important to Severfield that we build solid relationships with the training providers that deliver the learning to the Severfield Apprentices, and sponsoring an award shows our commitment to the college.”

Chris Urwin, Managing Director at Britcom

“The award ceremonies are a great idea. They provide the opportunity for student recognition but also allow parents and guests to share in the successes. Mixing up the table planning is also clever as it allows the students to interact with people, including sponsors, whom they may not normally do so.

“As we have a number of apprentices and T-Level placement students from York College, we feel it’s important to recognise the students and the work the college does.”
