VTCT Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
This qualification provides an ideal taster for learners who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
Entry requirements
You must be aged 19+ and have an interest in working in adult social care.
Course units
- Introduction to the adult social care sector
- Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care
- Awareness of communication in adult social care
- Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care
- Awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the adult social care worker
Assessments
This qualification is assessed via assignments.

Dates & course durations

Study methods
This course will be taught face-to-face in a classroom setting.

Additional costs
Students will need to purchase a York College Health polo shirt and can purchase an optional hoodie. More details are available upon enrolment.
