Uniformed Protective Services Extended Diploma Level 3
This qualification is designed to enable students to progress into a role within the protective service, or for those who intend to go on to higher level studies in order to pursue more specialised service roles.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSE subjects at grade 4 or above including English and Maths.
What will I study?
Course content covers areas such as the following:
- Citizenship and Diversity
- Behaviour and Discipline in Uniformed Protective Services (E)
- Physical Preparation, Health and Well-being
- Teamwork, Leadership and Communication
E = externally set examined unit
The course includes strong work-related opportunities with the Army, Navy, RAF, Fire Service, Ambulance, Police and Prison Service.

Method of delivery
Most sessions are theory sessions, but very applied. You will have a fitness session each week. This course also involves lots of work-related activity, including guest speakers and sessions delivered by the Army, Navy, RAF, Police and the Fire and Rescue Service.
How will I be assessed?
Each year the course consists of one externally assessed unit. The other units are internally assessed and include assignments, practical assessments, presentations, and case studies.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
The course has a strong success rate in aiding students to progress directly into service including the Police and Armed Forces. Alternatively, you could elect to continue to higher education with degree courses such as criminology, policing, disaster management, law and youth & social studies.
