Gym Instructing Technical Occupational Diploma Level 2
The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry for Gym Instructors (Diploma) enables students to develop a purposeful combination of knowledge, skills and behaviours to enter employment as a gym instructor at entry level and provides a strong foundation for them to achieve full occupational competence with further training and development in the workplace.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 3 GCSE subjects at grade 3 with GCSE English and Maths one at grade 3 and one at grade 4.
What will I study?
The qualification will develop students’ ability and confidence to apply the knowledge, skills and behaviours in carrying out the relevant occupational duties and functions to meet entry level competence. These include:
- Develop transferable skills, and professional behaviours/attributes such as communication, teamwork, and self-management that are essential to personal effectiveness in this occupation.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of best practices and core values such as health and safety, professional conduct, and inclusivity that are important for regulatory compliance/meeting professional requirements/working safely/sustainable operations/inclusion and diversity in the industry.
Method of delivery
The course includes a mix of theory and practical units which you will be studying in The Athletic Suite and Sports Hall, and on the 3G pitch, as well as in classrooms and computer rooms.
How will I be assessed?
You will evidence your skills, knowledge and understanding through an evidence-based portfolio. Evidence will consist of worksheets, posters, assignments, observation, witness testimonies and case studies.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
Students can progress onto a number of pathways within the Sports curriculum area including the Level 3 BTEC Technical Occupational Diploma in Personal Training; Level 3 Sports Coaching; Level 3 Esports and Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services courses.
