Summer Adult Showcase - Pottery

Explore your creativity and create your very own ceramic vessel! This course will entail the hands-on making processes of coiling and throwing on the potter’s wheel to produce ceramic vessels. These vessels will be enhanced using texture and sculpture tools and the application of decorative slips.

NOTE: Any work produced will need approximately a week to dry and then be fired to biscuit. This is the prior to the last week of term and allows for participants to collect their work.

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to develop their making skills in the form of clay, to produce attractive ceramic vessels. A working knowledge of clay would be advantageous, but this course is suitable for beginners and those at an intermediate level.

The ceramic facilities at York College are excellent, with everything needed to produce wonderful pieces of ceramic art.

Our students also have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.

Take up a new hobby, develop your creative eye and learn some new skills and experience one of the most ancient crafts with this fun, short course.

You'll develop the rudimentary knowledge and skills required to produce thrown and coiled vessels in order to bring your creative vision to life.

Completion of this course will enable students to progress on to various other Art & Design courses available at York College:
