The Level 1 Performance and Production course provides an exciting introduction to the world of performing arts and creative production.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSE subjects at grade 2, ideally including English and Maths. You will be invited to a meeting to discuss further and for you to show your genuine interest in Performance and Production.

What will I study?

This hands-on program covers key skills in acting, stagecraft, and behind-the-scenes production techniques. You will explore performance styles, develop your creativity, and gain practical experience in areas such as lighting, sound, and set design. With a focus on collaboration and creativity, this course builds a solid foundation for you to pursue further studies or careers in the Performance and Production industry.

You will also be required to study GCSE maths and/or English if you have not achieved a grade 4.

Method of delivery

You will typically be in College three days per week which will also include any GCSE English and/or maths resits you may need to undertake. In-College delivery is supported by online resources and potentially trips and visits to support primary research within project work.

How will I be assessed?

There is continuous assessment of project/assignments throughout the programme. These may include performances, presentations, practical or written work. All units are assessed and an overall grade (Pass, Merit or Distinction) for the course will be awarded.

Good course combinations

This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.

Your next steps

This course is a stepping stone towards a career in Performance and Production. After this course, you would apply for the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts or Music Performance & Production, another Level 2 course in the College or use your skills in employment.
