Entry Requirements
Some prior experience, and employment within a HR role is a requirement for this course. It is recommended that students have previously completed the Level 3 CIPD Peoples Practice course before enrolling but this is not essential. We recommend that you hold GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4.

The Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management is an ideal qualification for those who are currently working in a people practice role and are looking to take the next step in their career.

This qualification is designed for anyone who enjoys developing and managing people. You will expand your HR knowledge through a combination of mandatory core units and optional units to suit your specialist area.

This higher-level qualification is perfectly suited to learners who:

  • Have some existing HR knowledge, or are currently working in a people practice role and are looking to take the next steps in their career
  • Wish to develop the specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required to be a manager within the HR sector

Completion of this qualification will equip you with management expertise, fundamental to a successful career in a variety of roles, including resource management, recruitment and employee relations.

Entry requirements

Some prior experience, and employment within a HR role is a requirement for this course. It is recommended that students have previously completed the Level 3 CIPD Peoples Practice course before enrolling but this is not essential. We recommend that you hold GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4.

As this is a professional qualification, we recommend that you hold GCSE English and Maths at L2. However, if you do not have these qualifications, please contact us for a discussion as it may still be possible for you to join the course. The CIPD has a policy for students where English is not their first language that gives guidance on appropriate English language entry requirements.

Course units

These are the typical core units you will study over the duration of the course:

    • Organisational performance and culture in practice
    • Evidence-based practice
    • Professional behaviours and valuing people

Further units are selected from a list of specialist and optional units, depending on your specialism.

Assessments

Students should allow themselves time to study outside of the course too. The amount may vary depending upon the ability of the student, the level of the course, previous knowledge and speed of working. Homework will be set weekly and you are required to complete an assignment to demonstrates that you have met all the outcomes for each unit.

Assignments may include using both written and practical skills. All units must be completed successfully for you to obtain your qualification.

Course progression

Successful completion of this qualification will allow you to progress on to further study in HR, including Level 7 CIPD.

Study methods

Delivery of this course will be on campus, face to face. This will typically be for one evening per week. Date to be confirmed closer to the start of your course.

Students will have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.

Additional costs

Some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.

Career progression

When you complete your qualification, you’ll be awarded CIPD Associate Membership, and the designation “Assoc CIPD” after your name. This establishes your credibility as a professional, raises your profile and opens doors to new job opportunities.
