Amy

“I’d always had a passion for make-up and art, so I decided to pursue a media make-up degree to explore my creativity. I chose to study at York College University Centre despite the commute, as it offered a degree that covered all disciplines, including wig work.

My experience at York College University Centre has been amazing. I’ve learned so many skills that I never would have thought I’d learn and my tutors were great; they always took time to support me.

Studying at York College University Centre provided me with lots of contacts and industry knowledge, and I’m now using the skills I’ve learned as a make-up artist for TV and film.”

Andrew

“I chose to study this degree because it’s an intense programme which will really help to prepare me for today’s industry. I love the movement classes as it’s allowed me to unlock my body and express my emotions and story through movement. My tutors are really supportive and I know I can approach them for help at any time.

York College University Centre is local to me and I’d studied here previously so I knew the building and layout, which really helped. My experience has been great and I’ve made lots of new friends along the way.

When I’ve completed this degree I intend to enter the industry, specifically theatre, and then hopefully I’ll get an agent for film and TV roles.”

BA (Hons) Acting for Stage & Screen

Zara

"Studying this degree has taught me how to create different types of garments and teaches a lot about the fashion industry. I’ve also learned how to deal with tight deadlines like I would when dealing with companies and clients in the future.

I chose York College University Centre as I wanted a smaller environment with lots of tutor contact, and so the smaller group sizes here are great. It also seemed like a good option after being out of education for many years.

The support I’ve received from tutors has been amazing. I was initially a bit worried about entering education again but my tutors have been so encouraging."
