Automotive Care Technical Occupational Entry IMI Level 3 (Diploma)
This qualification builds on the skills you have developed on the Level 2 Automotive Care Diploma with content similar to that of the Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Technician apprenticeship standard.
Entry requirements
GCSE grade 4 in Maths and English in addition to achievement of the IMI Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Automotive Care.
What will I study?
Having already acquired the Level 2 Automotive Care Diploma, this course will build on what you have already learned and more. You will learn to diagnose complex vehicle system faults using the latest diagnostic techniques and equipment - from live data reading on diagnostic scanners, to using oscilloscopes, to engine and transmission overhaul. The course content is similar to that of the Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Technician standard.
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three days per week with time spent in the workshop undertaking practical activities and in the classroom studying theory work.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical assignments and online, multi-choice exams. Your progress is shown through your 'ePortfolio' and will help you monitor your progress through the year.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
Upon completing this course, you would typically seek employment within the automotive industry as an improver, gain an apprenticeship or go on to university through an Access course.
