Automotive Care Technical Occupational Entry IMI Level 2 (Diploma)
The course covers the whole range of motor vehicle engineering skills from routine maintenance to repair techniques. It is based on the Technical aspect of the Autocare apprenticeship standard.
Entry requirements
GCSE grade 4 in Maths and English OR IMI Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Maintenance.
What will I study?
You will learn about health and safety in the workplace, tools and equipment for vehicle maintenance, and various vehicle systems including steering and suspension, braking systems and tyres. The course content is similar to that of the Level 2 apprenticeship standard.
You will be required to buy your own personal protective equipment (PPE) and a toolbox that will allow you to carry out most of the tasks throughout your course. All of which can be bought through the College online shop.
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three days per week with time spent in the workshop undertaking practical activities and in the classroom studying theory work.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical assignments and online, multi-choice exams. Your progress is shown through your 'ePortfolio' and will help you monitor your progress through the year.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
Upon completing this course, you can progress to higher levels of learning, such as the IMI Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Automotive Care (Diploma). Additionally, students can progress towards other appropriate destinations, such as apprenticeships and employment in the automotive industry.
