What you'll cover
This course is aimed at those interested in learning the basics of woodworking, together with automata making.
Each week will touch on a basic mechanism: CAMs, Levers, Cranks, Gears, Belts, Linkages.
The first three weeks you will learn the safe use of hand and power tools resulting in a simple moving model. During the remainder of sessions, you can choose to make a second tutor led design or explore your own idea.
You will use basic manual tools, as well as electric drill driver, jigsaw, pillar drill, bench fretsaw and bench sander.
Facilities
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
You will work in our state-of-the-art engineering workshops.
