Enterprise & Innovation Mix
This course is all about turning ideas into reality. You will learn how to start and grow a business, develop a brand, manage finances, and pitch like a pro.
Through creative projects, business simulations, and working with real-world challenges, you will gain the confidence and knowledge to become an entrepreneur or an innovation leader. You will explore key topics such as market research, financial planning, brand development, and the role of innovation in a competitive marketplace. Students work on real-world business challenges, pitch ideas, and develop enterprise projects, fostering creativity, resilience, and commercial awareness.
Entry requirements
A Level Mix options are equivalent to one A Level. You can take two A Level subjects and one ‘Mix’ subject.
The core entry requirement for A Level and ‘Mix’ study at York College is a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 5 with GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4. This does not include GCSE equivalents (e.g. BTEC courses). Short course GCSE is counted as half of a full GCSE.
What will I study?
Across the two years, you will study four units: two are externally assessed, with exams/controlled assessments, and two are coursework based (or similar).
The core units are:
- Enterprise and Entrepreneurs
- Developing a Marketing Campaign
- Personal and Business Finance
Method of delivery
You will be in College four days a week, with your studies being classroom based; there is no online delivery on this course.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be by exams/controlled assessment and coursework.

This qualification is designed to complement A Level subjects such as Law, Business, Psychology, or Economics.
