Digital Skills for the Over 60s
Do you need help with basic computer and digital skills? The course covers step by step how to send emails, navigate the internet, interact with social media and stay safe online. This course is designed for the over sixties and will show you how to use your tablet or smart phone as well as showing you shortcuts and how to safely us a desktop computer.
Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course, however it is designed for learners who are over the age of 60 years old wanting to learn basic digital skills.
Course units
Topics covered include:
- Turning on digital devices and shortcuts
- Internet safety
- QR codes and using tablets/phones
-Social media platforms
Assessments
There are no formal assessments you will be given the opportunity to test out your skills and build on them each week.
Course fees
This course is free for those earning under £35,000 who live in York, North Yorkshire or West Yorkshire.

Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Additional costs
All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, this course may require additional study from home, you will need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning.
