Advanced & Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship Level 3
The Level 3 Advanced & Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship is designed for experienced hair professionals looking to refine their skills and unleash their creativity. This program focuses on advanced cutting, colouring, and styling techniques, along with the latest trends and innovative methods in the industry.
Apprentices will develop expertise in precision styling, creative colour work, and client consultation, preparing them for senior stylist roles or specialist positions. With hands-on experience and expert guidance, this apprenticeship is the perfect next step for those aiming to excel in the dynamic world of hairdressing.
Entry requirements
To start the course you must be employed in a relevant environment for a minimum of 30 hours per week. You must have completed a Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship or have significant salon experience and have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
What will I study?
This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work as a Hairdresser and will include:
- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- Provide hairdressing consultation services
- Creatively colour and lighten hair
- Creatively style and dress hair
- Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
- Hair colour correction service
- Cut men’s hair using basic techniques
You will also put together a collection of looks which will inform the Professional Discussion during the End-Point Assessment.
All students are required to purchase a practical kit and uniform, details of which will be provided during your advice and guidance discussion and induction.
Method of delivery
Hairdressing apprentices attend College on a day-release basis and work for their employer for the rest of the time.
How will I be assessed?
Continual assessment will take place throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
The End Point Assessment (EPA) will comprise of;
- 90-minute on-line test
- Observation and questioning over 5 hours
- Professional discussion based on your Collection of looks lasting 45 minutes
Additional costs
There are no specific College programme related costs, however you will be advised of any additional costs during your application and enrolment process.

Good course combinations
It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
After completing a Level 3 Advanced & Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship, you can progress into roles such as senior stylist, colour technician, salon manager, or session stylist in the fashion and media industry.
