Workforce development is vital to the success of any organisation, from small independent companies to large multi-national organisations. York College’s Business Partnerships Team can help to support your training and development plans through apprenticeships, professional qualifications, bespoke/in-house training or scheduled short training courses.
York College & University Centre was founded in 1827, with our current campus being rebuilt entirely in 2007, following a £60 million redevelopment programme. Our mission is to provide a life-enhancing educational experience, through inspirational teaching, working in partnership and helping individuals achieve the best they can.
The College actively works in partnership with over 1,000 employers to help them recruit apprentices and placement students, and provide their employees with bespoke training. We have over 7,000 students studying with us annually and our wide variety of courses range from entry level through to degree and accredited professional courses, plus short courses for business. We are the largest provider of A Level and vocational programmes for 16 -19 year-olds in the region.
We offer apprenticeships in the following sectors; Business and Accounting, Construction, Digital Technologies, Engineering, Hairdressing, Hospitality and Science. York College provides a free apprentice recruitment support service whereby we help advertise your vacancy, hold regular Open Events where we promote apprenticeship vacancies and invite you along to talk with potential candidates and carry out the initial sift of applications to ensure that you only receive suitable candidates for selection to interview.
Work placements are the ideal way to introduce young people to the realities of working life. For businesses, they can provide an insight into what young people can offer, whilst helping you to train and potentially recruit your next generation of employees. We offer short work placements of 35 hours (five working days) and longer placements up to 315 hours (45 working days). Both placement options are flexible and can be undertaken in one, or in longer blocks upon negotiation.
