During the course you will study units covering topics in biology, chemistry and physics and practical techniques. The course includes a significant work placement. 

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English plus a grade 5 in Maths and Science.

What will I study?

The course is currently being re-written by the awarding body, but will be designed to cover a range of science topics with real-world application and direct links to how science is used in industry.

Industry placement

The course includes work experience and a work-based project. 

Method of delivery

Over the two years of your technical qualification studies you will spend 80% on College-based studies and 20% on employer work experience.

Lessons take place in purpose-built science labs with modern facilities and good equipment. You will be taught by subject specialists in each area of the course with at least one tutor for each of biology, chemistry and physics.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment on the T Level in Science is a combination of written exams, employer-set projects, and practical assignments. You’ll complete core assessments to demonstrate your understanding of scientific principles and practices, as well as a specialist project in your chosen area of technical science. A key part of the course is the industry placement, where your performance and professional skills will also be evaluated. This mix of academic and hands-on assessment ensures you're ready for the workplace or further study.

Your next steps

After completing the T Level in Science, you’ll be well-prepared to move into a range of exciting careers such as laboratory technician, food manufacturing inspector, or metrologist. You can also progress to a higher-level apprenticeship or a related university course. The qualification is designed to give you both the knowledge and the practical experience that employers and universities value, opening up a wide range of future opportunities.

What UCAS points do T Levels carry?

What UCAS points do T Levels carry?

UCAS tariff points were allocated to T Levels in 2019, with the top T Level grade equal to achieving 3 A* at A Level. Points have been allocated to the overall T Level grade, and students must achieve at least an overall pass grade to receive UCAS points.

We have a Work Placement team based at the College who will arrange this for you with participating employers, ensuring you can gain the knowledge you need.
