English, maths and digital provision are also built into the classroom-based element of the T Level, meaning students will be given a solid foundation of transferable skills.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language.

If you have Maths and English Language, one at grade 3 and one at grade 4, plus 3 additional GCSEs at grade 4 or above you can enter the programme in the Foundation year and you will study three years in total.

What will I study?

The breadth of content will ensure you can apply your skills for different purposes and in different roles. The Technical Qualification is the main classroom-based element of the course and consists of two components:

Core Content (Year One)

This provides you with the knowledge that underpins the industry with topics covering the following areas:

  • Working within the Business and Administration Sector
  • Business Context
  • People in Business
  • Quality and Compliance
  • Finance
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Project and Change Management
  • Business Behaviours

An Employer-set project provides the opportunity to develop and apply a minimum range of core skills important for employability.

Occupational Specialisms (Year Two)

Content includes:

  • Business Improvement
  • Team Leadership/Management
  • Business Support
  • Information Management
  • Professional Relationships

These ensure you develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve a level of competence needed to enter employment in the occupational specialism, and are organised around ‘performance outcomes’ that indicate what you will be able to do as a result of learning and applying the specified knowledge and skills.

Foundation Year

Students in the Foundation year will complete a GCSE in either English or Maths, and study subjects similar to those in the core content which will give an underpinning of those subjects ready for Year One. Progression to Year One is dependent on achieving a grade 4 in English or Maths as required.

Additional costs
There is a course contribution cost of £70.00 to support the trips and visits organised to enhance students' learning. For further information please speak to our tutors at open events and guidance discussions.

Industry placement

The industry placement allows you to develop your subject specific skills as well as those necessary to working in any environment, such as effective planning, working with others, health and safety and promoting equality and diversity.

Method of delivery

Your studies will be across three full days per week. These will be mainly classroom based, when in College, but you will also undertake experiential learning. Over the two years of your technical qualification studies you will spend 80% on College-based studies and 20% on employer work experience.

How will I be assessed?

Core Content component:
• Paper A written examination
• Paper B written examination
• Employer-set project

In order to achieve a grade for the Core Content component, you must have results for both sub-components - the Core (written) examinations and the Employer-set project. The combined results from these will be aggregated to form the overall Core Content component grade (A* to E and U).

If you fail to reach the minimum standard across all sub-components, you will receive a U grade. No overall grade will be issued for the Core Component until both sub-components have been attempted.

Occupational Specialism Component:
• Synoptic assignments

You are also required to successfully achieve a Distinction/Merit/Pass grade in one of the Occupational Specialism components. If you fail to reach the specified level of attainment, you will receive a U grade.

Your next steps

This technical qualification will support students on to a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships. Career paths include Operations Manager, HR Professional, Marketing Manager and Project/Events Manager.
