This one year course offers a broad introduction to a number of key digital technologies.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSE subjects at grade 3 or equivalent, ideally including English and Maths. We recognise that not all prospective students have the necessary formal entry requirements, but nevertheless have a keen interest in the subject. We are always prepared to discuss accessing the course or alternative courses.

What will I study?

The units covered are:

  • Digital Skills Progression
  • Games Design and Development
  • Digital Skills Project
  • Website Design and Development
  • Cybersecurity
  • Programming
  • Mobile App Development
  • Exploring New and Emerging Technologies
  • Photo Editing Software

If you have not yet achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English you will continue to study these. We also encourage students to seek work experience opportunities to support their study.

Academic
Trips
We strive to offer opportunities to enhance learning outside of the classroom.

Additional costs
In the event of a suitable trip being available students will be asked to contribute. No other additional costs are anticipated although students are recommended to have their own set of headphones.

Method of delivery

You will typically be in College three or four days per week. In-College delivery is supported by online resources, and students develop strong independent learning skills to equip them for their next steps.

How will I be assessed?

All units of work are assessed through the development of a portfolio of work which is internally assessed and verified. In addition, each year we are visited by an external verifier who will check and support our assessment.

Good course combinations

This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.

Your next steps

This is a respected qualification allowing access into entry level jobs in the IT industry, or progression on to Level 3 Digital qualifications such as Games Development, T Level in Computing & the Digital Environment or to go into Creative Media or Business.
