York College & Their Business Partners- Providing Industry Experience Through T Levels

Our T Level provision at York College & University Centre covers many subject areas including…

Business & Professional Studies | Construction | Digital Technologies | Early Years & Education | Engineering | Hair, Beauty & Holistic Therapies | Health & Social Care

We offer eight T Level course options and have plans to grow this even further.

Celebrations were underway last summer when our first cohort of T Level students achieved a 100% pass-rate.

The beauty of T Levels is that they have been developed with employers and businesses, meaning they help our students to build the knowledge and experience they need to achieve the career they want.

Let’s hear from one of our second-year Construction, Design, Surveying & Planning T Level students, Sam Stokes and his mum, Anna on their T Level experience so far…

Sam said:

“I chose to study a T Level because of the opportunities the qualification provides after college. The industry placement element of the course has given me experience of working with professionals I can learn from - I’ve had the chance to work with a number of inspiring people.

“I have been able to develop practical surveying skills, communication skills, computer aided design and technical knowledge.

“It was through the course when we were covering quantity surveying that I decided, after I have completed my T Level, I would like to progress further. I’d like to study a quantity surveying degree apprenticeship. My dream job is to be a commercial director.”

Let’s get a parent's perspective…

Anna said:

“I have been very impressed with the course and York College. Sam was very eager to do the T Level and we supported his decision due to the course structure. Construction is a subject he is very interested in, and the course gave him the opportunity to do work placement. The work placement element is providing him with experience of various career options.

“Sam has already completed over 300 hours of work experience on large construction projects, shadowing different job roles including quantity surveyors. He has been given the opportunity to see what life is like as a quantity surveyor to ensure this is the career pathway he wants to take. This opportunity would not have been available to him if he had gone down a different study route.”
