Construction Awards sponsorship hailed as a great way to promote your business to 'new audiences'
Judge Electrical have described how sponsoring a York College & University Centre Construction Award helped promote their business to “new audiences”.
The York-based electrician and electrical contractor have taken out a sponsorship package for this year’s awards on Wednesday 12th June at York Sports Club, having supported the annual event in the same manner during 2023.
Another company that have renewed their sponsorship commitment are the North Yorkshire Construction Training Group, who believe the opportunity represents a great way to “highlight and encourage the next generation of talent” in the industry whilst enjoying a “fun evening” at the same time.
Mollie Dodd, Business Development & Finance Director at Judge Electrical, added that she “enjoyed every minute” of last year’s Awards Night and also found the event very helpful in terms of connecting with other local businesses and organisations in the construction trade, whilst also helping to “support, in a small way, a student’s career progression”.
She said: “Last year was the first Construction Awards event Judge Electrical have attended and been involved in and we genuinely enjoyed every minute. We were seated with the winner of the award that we had sponsored and, being able to chat to him about his experience and meet his super proud family, was really lovely and reaffirmed why we wanted to get involved.
“These years and experiences are so formative for students and being able to recognise their commitment and passion, through an initiative like this, is fantastic. As well as the focus on students, what was also really inspiring was to hear from people in the industry, particularly women in construction and how they were carving paths in a male-dominated industry.
“The mix of attendees in terms of students, tutors and employees was also a great chance for everyone to share their experiences and we believe there are so many benefits from the event, from the positive boost for students to connecting local businesses and organisations in the construction trade. After our experience last year, we knew we wanted to be involved again and being able to sponsor an award means a lot to us - not only does it give us unique exposure and visibility in the local construction industry, it also means we can help support, in a small way, a student’s career progression.
“We have apprentices from York College within our business and know that, as they are learning, being recognised for their achievements can be an important part of their progression. We also feel our connection with the college increases awareness of our business in the York area and promotes us to new audiences which, as a small business, is really important.
“The Awards sponsorship meant that our business and brand was promoted through a variety of different channels and media. We'd updated our branding around the time of last year’s Awards Ceremony, so to see our logo displayed on the website, banners, on the menus on the tables and in various other places was really exciting.
“If you're thinking about a York College sponsorship opportunity, go for it!”
Mollie also spoke with enthusiasm about Judge Electrical’s apprenticeship partnership with York College, saying: “We've had a few York College electrical apprentices over the years and the College have communicated and engaged with us throughout the process. We definitely feel that they offer a more holistic approach compared to other training providers we've worked with, along with the various other opportunities for involvement, support and promotion.”
On the motivation behind North Yorkshire Construction Training Group’s continued Construction Awards Night sponsorship, Group Training Officer Lorraine Kirbitson explained: “We have attended the Awards Night for the past two years and it’s a great opportunity to showcase the range of talent in the sector. It is important to recognise and celebrate student achievement and, hosting an event at which employers, students, sponsors and supporters can all get together, is really important and reinforces the cohesive approach.
“NYCTG are sponsoring the Technical Apprentice Award for a second time. We have selected this award to recognise a relatively new apprenticeship in the field and raise the profile of the qualification route.
“We feel sponsorship is a way to highlight and encourage the next generation of talent into our industry and also makes for a fun evening!”
Lorraine added that NYCTG were impressed by a recent tour of our £5.5million Construction & Engineering Centre Extension, which was opened in February.
“We were delighted to see the range of new technologies on offer to prepare the workforce for the future,” she pointed out.
York College would also like to express our gratitude to fellow 2024 Construction Award sponsors The York Handmade Brick Company, Barratt BDW Trading Limited (Barratt Developments), Bagnalls – Alfred Bagnall & Sons, York Consortium for Craft and Conservation, Persimmon Homes, Wates Construction and Chartered Institute of Building.
