Bronia Gardner - You Can Come Up Now Exhibition

The work of York College alumna Bronia Gardner will form the latest exhibition in our Gallery, until March 31.

Bronia studied art with us in 2018/19 before heading to the University of Leeds for her MA in Fine Art. Now a working artist, Bronia’s pieces explore memory and experience through several media including black and white photography, digital paint and embroidery.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is a reproduction of a folbot, a collapsible canoe used by British forces during the Second World War. The piece was inspired by her father’s service during the war, and her exhibition features other works telling the story of his bravery.

Bronia said: “I hope my work touches you, the viewer, by reminding you of someone or something previously forgotten; my ultimate hope is that you will linger just a moment longer.”

The exhibition, entitled You Can Come Up Now!, is open now and runs until March 31.
