Here at York College & University Centre, we have a long-established programme of Access to Higher Education (Science) courses that are successful in providing mature students with qualifications equivalent to A level, that will permit students to progress onto university courses or medical school.

Access to HE: Medicine Information and Guidance Event

This event is to ensure that you have sufficient information to make a decision about whether an Access course is right for you, and if the Access to Medicine course is the best option for you to reach your future career goals.

This online event will cover the following:

Access to Medicine
We will give you an overview of the course, overview of topics, assessment, grading, time commitment and method of teaching. We will discuss the entry criteria for this course, funding available and pre-course preparation.

We will then cover the specific requirements of medical schools, preparing to study medicine, what GCSE grades you will require, discuss other prior qualification (A Level - degree), UCAT, work experience and your personal statement for UCAS. There will also be the opportunity to ask your own questions.
