Who is this course aimed at?

Adults who are interested in learning to compose and produce their own music. This could be for practising musicians who enjoy music as a hobby, DJ’s who wish to produce beats for themselves, or performers who want to develop their music technology skills.

Overview of the course

The course aims at developing music production skills in a professional environment by an experienced and qualified tutor. This course will develop your understanding of Music Production from within a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and develop the basic technical skills needed to compose and produce songs.

On this course your tutor will guide you through the fundamentals of digital audio theory and technique, developing DAW based production skills whilst making reference to contemporary music examples. You will also be encouraged to bring in projects to get feedback.

Entry Requirements

No previous learning is required, however a passion for either music or audio production is essential.

  • DAWS and Cubase
  • Editing and mixing
  • Sequencing, quantising and beat making
  • Use midi keyboard and midi recording techniques

Teaching Method(s)

Students will be taught by a specialist music technology tutor in an industry standard recording studio and music production suite. The course is mostly practical based, but digital audio theory will be covered.

About the course tutors

Luke Lount is a tutor of A-level Music Technology and Vocational Music. He is a touring musician and composer, performing for a variety of artists and composing and producing music for a range of projects, including adverts and television. He also works as a DJ and Music Producer. Luke has worked with many international clients such as Land Rover, H&M, Samsung, Teen Mom USA and Terry Deary.
