Who is this course aimed at?
Adults who are interested in learning to rehearse, perform and play music in a live environment. This could be for practising musicians who enjoy music as a hobby, musicians who wish to collaborate and play in a group/band or performers who would like to develop their music skills in a live setting.
Overview of the course
This course provides an introduction to music performance and the practical skills needed to rehearse and perform music in a live environment. On this course your tutor will guide you through the fundamentals of rehearsal techniques and concepts and working together as an ensemble to produce a live performance, making reference to contemporary music examples. You will also be encouraged to set up your own projects outside of college and use your tutors expertise to get feedback.
No previous learning is required, however a passion for either music or live performance is essential.

13th October 2020 - 8th December 2020, Tuesday evening.
- Specified and dedicated rehearsal techniques
- The importance of reflection and reflecting in practice
- Rehearsal room setup and etiquette
- Working as a collaborative ensemble
- Rehearsal room to the stage; the development of process

- The audience as a consideration
Students will be taught by a specialist music performance tutor in an industry standard rehearsal environment. The course is mostly practical based, but performance theory will be covered.

About the course tutors
Gordon Train MA in Composition, BA (Hons) Music Performance, PGCE Masters Level (Further Education teaching)
Gordon is a Progress Tutor for A Level and Vocational students, a tutor of Vocational Music and a peripatetic guitar teacher. His specialisms lie in performance, composition and event management. He is a practicing, live musician who runs his own company providing live music for corporate and private events. Gordon has also been a Learning Support mentor whilst previously teaching in other subjects such as Public Services where research techniques and development were his primary focus.
