This qualification will provide classroom theory, practical learning and a 3 month industry placement with an employer. It has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that it meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work.

What will I study?

The Technical Qualification is the main classroom-based element of the course and consists of two components:

Core Content

This provides students with the knowledge that underpins the industry with topics covering the following areas:

The breadth of content will ensure students can apply their skills for different purposes and in different roles.

Occupational Specialisms

Students can choose to specialise in a specific field which could include dental nursing or supporting healthcare. If you choose the supporting healthcare route you will focus on at least one of the following areas:

The industry placement allows students to develop their subject specific skills as well as those necessary to working in any environment, such as effective planning, working with others, health and safety and promoting equality and diversity.

How will I be assessed?

Core knowledge is assessed through a combination of written exams and an employer-set project. Specialist knowledge and skills are assessed through a combination of a written exam and practical projects.

What could it lead to?

Students may progress into employment, an apprenticeship or higher level study, including university.
