Apprentices attend College one day per week, and work for their employer the rest of the time. The apprenticeship takes one year to complete. The apprentice may need to attend extra sessions on an additional day for Maths or English.

Qualification and Level

Intermediate Apprenticeship in Barbering.

What will be studied?

Units include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Shampooing and Conditioning
  • Styling Men’s Hair
  • Cutting Men’s Hair
  • Beard and Moustache Trimming

Are there any entry criteria?

To start the course you must be employed in a relevant environment for a minimum of 30 hours per week. You should ideally have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English (grade 3+).

What next?

Job opportunities following completion of this qualification include Barber, Stylist, self-employment, or progression onto the Advanced Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 3.
