Why Beauty Therapy?
If you want an exciting and varied career in the Beauty/Spa industry this is the course for you. There is a demand across the country for skilled and qualified Beauty/Spa Therapists and employers increasingly need committed, well trained and enthusiastic workers. You will be required to work both individually and as part of a team, helping with the smooth running of the salon, assisting clients and providing a wide range of treatments such as waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, make-up, eyelash and eyebrow treatments.

Beauty Therapy Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2.
What will be studied
- Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
- Promote additional services and products to clients
- Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
- Fulfil salon reception duties
- Provide facial treatments
- Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
- Carry out waxing services
- Provide make-up services
- Provide manicure services
- Provide pedicure services
Students without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and take a test for Level 2 English and Maths prior to the end-point assessment.
Are there any entry criteria?
To start the course you must be employed in a relevant environment for a minimum of 30 hours per week. For the Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship (Level 2) you should ideally have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English (grade 3+).
Apprentices attend College one day per week, and work for their employer the rest of the time. The apprenticeship takes 1 year/18 months to complete. The apprentice may need to attend extra sessions on an additional day for Maths or English and complete Employer Rights and Responsibilities.
How will I be assessed?
Your practical skills will be assessed as you are observed carrying out treatments on paying clients in a salon/spa situation. You will also be required to complete online tests and assignment work to demonstrate you have gained the essential knowledge and understanding for each subject. Students will be required to prepare and present a portfolio of evidence to support their assessment process.
