York College

Due to the impact of the Coronavirus many organisations have needed their employees to working from home, or to move onto the Government Furlough scheme. Obviously, it is not currently possible to hold face to face training, but it is still possible to support and develop yourself and your staff.

The furlough scheme allows staff to do training or volunteering and many employers are using this opportunity to catch up on planned development or to simply provide learning as one of the ways of maintaining staff engagement and supporting wellbeing.

York College are developing a range of virtual and online programmes and modules and we will continue to update this list of programmes. If you don’t yet see a programme you would like for yourself or your team please do get in touch: This email address is being protected from spambots. Online Introduction to Management and Supervisory Skills

Executive Summary

York College are now able to offer our popular Introduction to Management and Supervisory skills course as a series of bite-sized sessions delivered online to smaller groups.

The sessions are delivered in 2 hour chunks with opportunities for reflection, review and further work in between the sessions. The interactive online platform allows delegates to engage with each other, ask questions of the trainer, observe and practice skills.

Now, more than ever, the quality of management within your organisation is crucial to ensuring that your business makes it through this unprecedented time. Effective line managers and supervisors set the tone for your organisation, provide direction and support, and prevent staffing issues from becoming problems.

An employee's relationship with his or her direct manager is the single most important factor in employee engagement and retention. Effective managers are instrumental in creating a committed and productive workforce who enjoy adding value and act as ambassadors for your business.

Is this online seminar for me?

Whether you are an existing or new manager, if you want to become more effective and achieve more, and you want to improve your management capabilities, then this series of 5 bite-sized sessions is for you.

This programme has been specifically designed for people who have little or no experience of supervising or managing others or who have some experience but no formal training in this area.

It will help you to understand what management is, and what it isn’t, how to transition into becoming a manager and how to overcome some of the hurdles that may present. You will explore what strengths you are already bringing to the role, and how to leverage these, as well as identifying areas to work on and the tools to help you do this.

Learning Methods Used

This is an interactive series of 5 bite sized sessions that will introduce the concepts of management and use exercises, breakout groups, activities and learning outside the sessions to help you understand how to implement these in your day to day role.

The Trainer will set up a Zoom Training Team and will require the email address of each delegate beforehand so that she can invite them as a guest to the session.

We will use exercises, breakout groups, activities and learning outside the sessions to help you understand how to implement these in your day to day role.

The Trainer will set up a Zoom Training Team and will require the email address of each delegate beforehand so that she can invite them as a guest to the session.
