Who is this course aimed at?
These digital skills qualifications will be targeted at adults aged 19 plus and are intended to support adults to develop the digital skills they need for life, work or further study. The qualifications will be based on the national standards published in April 2019. Entry Level 3 is designed for adults with no or little prior experience of using digital devices or the internet. Level 1 is designed for adults with some experience of using digital devices and the internet but lacking secure basic digital skills.
Overview of the course
These digital skills qualifications will be targeted at adults aged 19 plus and are intended to support adults to develop the digital skills they need for life, work or further study. The qualifications will be based on the national standards published in April 2019.
No previous formal qualifications are required for entry to these qualifications, students should normally have English skills at the level below their chosen qualification. Students will be asked to complete an initial assessment prior to the start of the qualification to identify their current digital skills capabilities and areas for development.

Courses start in January 2021 and run each half term.
There are 5 Skill areas to the courses:
- Using devices and handling information
- Creating and editing
- Being safe and responsible online.
Teaching and learning for these qualifications will ensure that students develop essential digital knowledge and skills at the appropriate level, as set out in the national standards. Wherever possible, the learning programmes will be tailored to meet individual students’ needs. Consideration will be given to the types of digital skills that students want to develop and the circumstances in which they want or need to use these. Students should make optimal use of their own digital devices and the applications they wish to use. Students will be given the opportunity to practise their skills in a variety of contexts, prior to taking the assessment.
Online assessments for both the Entry level 3 and Level 1 qualifications which are externally set by the Awarding Organisations.
