Role Profile

Digital industries apprentices are employed in a wide variety of different organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors. The primary role of a Digital Marketer is to define, design, build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms to drive customer acquisition, customer engagement and customer retention. A Digital Marketer will typically be working as part of a team; in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall marketing plan or campaign. The marketer will work to marketing briefs and instructions. They will normally report to a Digital Marketing Manager, a Marketing Manager or an IT Manager.

Entry Requirements

There is a requirement to have five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent, (including English, Mathematics and a Science or Technology subject) or a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship or other relevant qualifications and experience. Individual employers may set an additional criteria. Employers are likely to be looking for a proven passion for digital and social media.

Students with international qualifications will need to have them converted, for which there will be a cost, through the national agency for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills (NARIC) website. This is required to confirm they are comparable to UK qualifications at the start of the programme in readiness for gateway and the end point assessment.

Qualifications

You will develop the knowledge, understanding, skills and behaviours (know it, show it & live it) in relation to the areas of specialism associated with the role. Apprentices must achieve one internationally recognised vendor or professional qualification.

Method of Delivery

Delivery will be in partnership with employers and adopt a blended approach of on and off the job training and professional development. Apprentices will receive training and mentoring in the workplace and knowledge, skills and behaviour development at York College through classroom based activities.

End Point Assessment

Grading takes place at the end of the apprenticeship, following the End-Point Assessment. The output is a single grade: Pass, Merit or Distinction for the entire apprenticeship.

Career Progression

This apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the Register of IT Technicians and those completing their apprenticeships are eligible to apply for registration. Completion of the apprenticeship would also allow access to join as an Affiliate (Professional) member of the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and/or Associate membership of BCS.

Completion of this apprenticeship can lead to promotion within your role or your organisation or a higher level programme of study.
