Who is this course aimed at?

This course is designed as progression from the Level 1 Certificate/Diploma. It is for Students who may want to work as a Painter & Decorator in the construction sector, or to increase your practical and theoretical skills as a hobby or for experience.

Overview

It allows students to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Painting and Decorating.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Certificate/Diploma in Painting & Decorating Or Prior Industry experience. (Initial conversation with tutor needed prior to enrolment).

Dates and Times

17th September 2019 - 20th May 2020.

5.30pm - 9.00pm.

Course Length

36 weeks.

Course Content

This course is designed for candidates who work or want to work in the Construction industry. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in their chosen discipline. It covers a number of skills which include;

  • Health & Safety
  • Construction Principles
  • Synoptic practical assessments – a. Erecting and Dismantling Access Equipment and Working Platforms b. Preparing Surfaces for Decoration c. Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller d. Applying Foundation and Plain Papers e. Producing Specialist Decorative Finishes f. Applying and Creating Colour
  • Theory/underpinning knowledge to support current industry standards

Teaching Method(s)

Mixture of Practical and Theory lessons.

Externally marked exams

Internal theory exams

Practical synoptic tests

City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma

FAQs

Will I be fully qualified after this qualification?

No you will need to be employed in the industry and convert your Diploma to a NVQ via the completion of an on-site portfolio. This will then need to be monitored and assessed from one of our tutors/assessors.

Progression

NVQ only qualification – (If employed in the industry) .

Employment in the industry/self-employment.
